Piatto Privacy Policy
Effective date: 29 August 2026
Piatto is operated by an individual based in Portugal (“Piatto”, “we”, or “us”).
Contact: hello@mypiatto.app
What we collect
To create your meal plan, you may provide:
- household size and children’s age ranges;
- diet, allergy, cuisine, budget, shop, cooking-time, schedule, appliance, storage, and meal-prep preferences;
- feedback or support messages you send us.
The complete meal-planning profile and generated plan are stored on your device. When recipes are loaded, allergy categories needed to filter unsafe recipes may be sent to our database provider.
We also receive basic technical and subscription information, such as an anonymous app user ID, device and app version, country, paywall activity, purchase status, and limited meal-planning attributes such as household size, budget range, preferred store, cuisines, and cooking preferences. We do not send allergy details or children’s diet information to our subscription analytics provider.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or health data. Piatto does not receive your full payment-card details.
Why we use it
We use this information to:
- generate and display a relevant meal plan;
- filter recipes based on allergies and dietary choices;
- operate subscriptions and restore purchases;
- maintain, secure, and improve the app;
- respond to support requests and meet legal obligations.
Our legal bases under the GDPR are providing the service you request, legitimate interests in operating and improving Piatto, legal obligations, and, where required, your consent. Allergy information is used only after explicit consent and only to provide recipe filtering. You may withdraw that consent by contacting us.
Who receives it
We use:
- Supabase for recipe delivery and backend services;
- Superwall for paywalls, subscription status, and related product analytics;
- Apple for App Store purchases and subscription payments.
These providers process data under their own privacy terms and our agreements with them. Information may also be disclosed if legally required or necessary to protect users and the service.
We do not sell personal data, use it for third-party advertising, or send app-user data to OpenAI.
Storage, transfers, and deletion
Local profile and plan data remain on your device until you reset the app’s data or uninstall it. Provider records are kept only as long as reasonably needed to operate, secure, and improve the service, generally no longer than 24 months, unless law requires longer.
Some providers may process data outside Portugal or the European Economic Area. Where required, we rely on recognised safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
To request deletion of data held by us or our providers, email hello@mypiatto.app. We will also explain any data we must retain by law. Deleting Piatto does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription; subscriptions are managed through your Apple account.
Children
Piatto is intended for adults aged 18 or over. An adult may enter limited information about household members to generate a family meal plan. Children should not use the app or submit information themselves.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of your data, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. Contact hello@mypiatto.app. We normally respond within one month.
You may also complain to Portugal’s data protection authority: Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD): www.cnpd.pt
Security and food safety
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no system is completely secure.
Piatto helps organise meals and is not medical advice. Recipe filtering may contain errors, and ingredients can change. Always check product labels and consult a qualified professional for serious allergies or medical dietary needs.
Changes
We may update this policy as Piatto changes. We will update the effective date and provide notice in the app when a change is important.
